All of OGEL’s garden bar rooms, much like all our garden pods, are ever-evolving as we explore and integrate new sustainable strategies to maximise energy efficiency and innovate our designs. Passive solar panel design harnesses the energy from the sun and uses it for heating, cooling and lighting making the outdoor room comfortable in all seasons. Natural ventilation is enhanced with strategic placement of ventilation and installing roof vents to allow warm, stale air to escape. You could also consider a green roof on your garden pod which encourages a natural ecosystem to thrive, attracting birds, bees and insects whilst also offering more natural insulation.
When it comes to helping the planet, we are always developing and improving our garden pods and rainwater harvesting is a fantastic inclusion in outdoor structures. Collecting rainwater from your roof and guttering, in a water butt leaves you with a winter’s worth of water to use on your garden in the summer without waste. You could also incorporate a greywater recycling system which collects internal water from sinks, baths, showers and appliances like dishwashers, and reuses it in toilet flushing and irrigation.

We look to use zero or low-volatile organic compound (VOC) paints in our internal walls along with finishes like linseed oil and natural waxes, whilst also using low-VOC adhesives so less harmful chemicals are released into the air, promoting a healthier environment.
Being eco-friendly doesn’t stop at the installation of your garden bar room. We encourage the use of energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators, ice makers and beverage coolers whilst implementing smart controls and timers to control and monitor energy consumption for optimised efficiency.
