Working remotely, and at home, requires a comfortable and productive environment, free from distractions such as other people or the TV. A garden office pod is a perfect solution for those wanting to conduct their work from home, in a dedicated space to optimise a healthy work-life balance.
The OGEL home office garden pod, provides limitless possibilities, allowing you to have full creative range for own unique vision.
The benefits of a garden office pod
You’ll be benefiting from one of Ogel’s garden home offices exponentially compared to using an office room inside your home. We never want to bring work home with us and separating these two parts of our life is a very healthy thing to do. When entering your garden office pod, you’ll be able to change your mindset from home to work and disconnect from that environment when you leave, allowing you to enjoy your free leisure time.
When you’re in the zone conducting your work, the last thing you’ll want is a distraction to break up your flow. Installing a dedicated space in your garden for working enables distractions to be a thing of the past. A garden office studio will enhance your focus and productivity and will be your own environment where others won’t be able to intrude, allowing you to concentrate on work-related tasks.
- Privacy and Peace: Complete your office work in the privacy and comfort of your garden pod. Our recycled materials boast great soundproofing, providing you with a distraction-free environment to work.
- Work-life balance: A separate space to conduct work helps to improve your work-life balance. You’ll be able to leave the office behind you at the end of the day and experience freedom that you wouldn’t with a traditional home office.
- 30-second commute: Simply walk to your garden office room, eliminating the need for long commutes and extra expenses on fuel. Benefit from saving time and money with an office garden pod.
- Create space: Rather than converting a room or a small space in your home for office work, you’ll have a dedicated space making your home feel, well, more like home.
- Add value to your property: Adding a high-quality office garden room from OGEL can increase the value of your property by as much as 15%.
- Eco-friendly: Your office garden room will be made from 100% recycled plastic material that provides amazing insulation for you to use all year round. The opportunity to install solar panels is always there, saving you costs on energy bills while being eco-friendly.
Maximise savings and work-life balance with a garden office
You’ll also be saving costs by not having to commute to work. You’ll save fuel money or expenses on public transportation by simply taking a few steps through your garden to your office. Not only will you be saving money, but you’ll be saving time, enabling you to have more flexibility with your work-life balance.
Is a garden office worth it?
A garden office room is more than worth it. Working from home has become the new normal for a large portion of the UK, and we want to help optimise the work-life balance for as many people as possible. A garden office is a worthy investment as you will have a separate space to conduct work outside of your main house. This will free up space in your home, and save you money by not having to commute, as well as more easily separate your home and work life.

Creating a productive workspace
Focus is key in any work environment – we want your garden office pod to be the best it can be. Inside your pod, depending on the size, we can install a desk, or multiple desks, which can house computer systems and other workplace equipment you need. A comfortable chair will promote good posture and avoid discomfort as will a level desk that we can install.
Unfortunately, sometimes a home office can become cluttered with other household items due to other members using it as a spare room. Having a designated space for work means you’ll be free from clutter allowing you to focus on your work. We provide efficiently laid out interiors with designated spaces for productivity, as well as cable management and socket implementation ensuring everything can function where it should.
Your personal touch is one of the highlights of an office garden pod. Evoke calmness and vitality in your garden office helping you to tackle tough decisions and stressful tasks with ease. Additionally, with your office being surrounded by the nature of your garden, your mood will be enhanced and promote an overall feeling of happiness.
Fully-insulated garden office
We want you to have full use of your garden office room all year round. The recycled plastic and materials it will be made from provide insulation, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Design and construction
OGEL lets you take the reins in designing your ideal garden office studio. We have various pod types and sizes to choose from, including solo, duo and Garden studio, as we want to cater to everybody’s needs and capacity. Different-sized garden rooms can accommodate different layouts for your office needs – but one thing in common is that all Ogel’s garden offices are made from 100% recycled material.
You can customise everything from the doors, windows, lighting, roof type and furniture of your office garden pod, highlighting a bespoke and comfortable work environment. You can do all of this by using our designer tool which lets you play with a wide range of design choices. Once you’ve made your decision, we’ll build it and install it for you!
Garden office interior ideas
You’re the one in charge of designing your ideal garden office room. The interior needs to be a space where you can be comfortable and fully functional when carrying out your work. We recommend installing a flush-mounted desk that will help to save space whilst looking visually stylish. Monitors or screens can also be wall mounted, as well as sufficient lighting– or why not make the most of the natural light flow from the doors and windows? Other shelving options can be installed, making your garden office as visually appealing and comfortable as it should be.
Installation and maintenance
Although the recyclable plastic used to construct our garden rooms at OGEL won’t rot or break down, they nevertheless require some upkeep, albeit very little such as general cleaning with water and sponge. Your garden office pod will continue to impress your family and guests, as well as provide you with a perfect space for work if you maintain it regularly.
Regular inspections of the roof will help you identify any problems that need to be fixed and prevent accumulations of leaves and other debris, which could obstruct rainfall from naturally draining down the slightly inclined roof.
Environmental considerations
An office garden pod from OGEL is made entirely from recycled materials. We are the first construction company in the world to do so and strive to implement green practices in all of our solutions.
It’s also possible to install solar panels to provide electricity to your office garden pod, helping to save costs on your energy bill while being environmentally friendly. Additionally, with the convenience of not having to commute to work using your car, you’ll be producing fewer emissions and promoting a more sustainable way of working.
Modular
All of our buildings are completely modular, which means you can pack them up with ease.
Prefabricated
We build your OGEL pod before we deliver to you, this means on-site building is minimal and you can spend more time enjoying your new dream room.

What is a garden pod?
A garden pod is a versatile outdoor structure designed to provide a sheltered and inviting space within your garden or backyard. These pods offer a variety of functions, serving as peaceful retreats for relaxation, cosy settings for entertaining guests or practical workspaces amidst the tranquillity of nature.
Available in a range of sizes and styles – from simple yet elegant designs to more sophisticated structures complete with windows, doors and insulation for year round use – garden pods cater to diverse preferences and needs.
Garden rooms are made from materials such as wood, metal or plastic, and they can be customised to complement your outdoor aesthetic seamlessly. Ultimately, a garden pod not only enhances the functionality of your outdoor space but also adds a touch of sophistication and comfort, elevating your garden experience.
Benefits of our garden office pods
There are a ton of benefits to having a garden office pod. Here are some of the biggest wins that our customers love…
Increased property value
Investing in a garden pod can significantly enhance the value of your property. These charming outdoor structures not only extend your living space but also add aesthetic appeal and functionality to your garden or backyard.
Prospective buyers often view garden pods as desirable features, particularly when they offer versatile uses such as relaxation areas, entertainment spaces or home offices. Additionally, a well-designed and properly maintained garden pod can contribute to the overall attractiveness of your property, making it more appealing to potential buyers and potentially leading to higher resale values.
Bespoke designs
Tailor every aspect to suit your unique preferences and requirements… from the architectural style to the interior layout. Our team of skilled designers work closely with you to create a one-of-a-kind workspace that seamlessly integrates with your aesthetic vision and functional needs. This could be working height sockets, optimal light positioning or even a built-in desk to maximise floor space.
Connection with the outdoors
Garden office pods provide a ‘clear head space’ for working. This allows you to connect with the outdoors, with all of the comforts and security of the indoors. Our eco-friendly garden pods are designed to help you foster a connection with nature.
Our garden office pods have large windows, to provide ample natural light, helping to create a refreshing workspace and an escape from the dull, drab indoors. Enjoy the beauty of your garden surroundings while staying productive, as our pods allow you to seamlessly integrate the tranquillity of the outdoors into your work environment. A bit better than parking yourself up at the end of a messy dining room table!
Privacy
Whether you need a quiet space for remote work, creative projects or personal reflection, OGEL garden office pods provide a tranquil hub of privacy. Allowing you to get on with important work without distractions.
With soundproof features and a dedicated space separate from your home, you can maximise productivity while enjoying the peace and privacy you need to thrive in your work.
Work/life balance
A separate space to conduct work will help greatly with your work/life balance. An observation we get regularly is that the temptation to go and reply to that email or finish that assignment is much greater when the laptop is sitting on the kitchen table.
Having a completely separate office room when working from home, especially if the ‘home office’ is outside of the main building, helps create a clear barrier of work and persona life.
Cut down on your commute
Unless you have a chauffeur to do the driving, your commute to work is probably dead time.
The average daily commute time is 59 minutes. This means you spend an extra 3 full days a month just travelling to and from work! Time that is unpaid by your employer.
The average cost to commute to work is £2,692 annually. When you think how many years of your life you will be working for, it’s a no brainer to invest into a garden office room.
Why choose OGEL?
One of the key drivers for founding OGEL was to turn ‘waste into wonderful’, which is what we’ve achieved with the use of recycled plastics to make the floors, walls and roofs of our buildings. With the opportunity to add solar panels to further add to your green credentials.
Solid construction
The OGEL construction system utilises ‘L’ shapes to construct both the exterior and interior walls, resulting in a finished wall structure that is hollow, making it ideal for accommodating cables and pipework.
The vertical sections of OGEL walls are 15mm thick, offering two significant advantages. Firstly, they provide a robust and rigid structure, resistant to common construction issues such as crushing and wind deflection, all while being only 8% of the weight of equivalent brick walls.
Insulated designs
Also, from an insulation perspective, the dual-wall design (outer and inner) effectively traps air, resulting in an exceptionally high insulation value. OGEL walls boast a U value of 0.185 W/m2K, comparable to that of a contemporary double-skinned brick home!
Zero maintenance
In much the same way as wood has been overtaken by uPVC for the majority of windows and doors, the same reason applies to composite garden buildings, namely zero upkeep.
Just clean the windows and enjoy!
Interior design expertise
How your garden office is fitted out internally is more important than how it looks externally.
OGEL have a great deal of expertise in ensuring the fit out is just right for its intended purpose, as well having flexibility if needs change.
Socket placement, switch placement, correct lighting, desk height are all considerations that need to be factored during the planning phase.

Working from home – garden office rooms, pods and sheds
It seems like a long time ago now, but there was a time when working from home was something you did as a last resort. Maybe you had to care for a sick child having the day off school or wait for an important delivery.
During the pandemic, working from home was a necessity but employees and, to a large extent, employers have embraced the change and now realise the benefits so that WFH and its big sister ‘hybrid working’ are here to stay… the statistics and what it holds for the future of work are staggering.
Fifty of the biggest UK employers have said they have no plans to return all staff to the office full-time in the near future.
85% of employees currently working from home want a ‘hybrid’ approach of both home and office working in future.
Frequently Asked Questions
If we’re being honest there is no difference between garden office ‘pods’ and garden office ‘rooms’. Some manufacturers claim a pod is smaller than a room but in both cases it’s simply an office space in your garden.

A garden office is a moveable item, but it counts as a structure from which your business operates rather than an item of equipment. Therefore none of the costs of a DIY construction or a ready-made office’s purchase price is deductible from your business profits.
In the majority of cases, yes, you can use your home as an office. Where matters get more complicated is where you have clients or regular visitors to your home… for example, a hairdresser or dog groomer. Where permission would normally need to be granted by the local authority, your mortgage company and ensure you have the correct business insurance.
Yes you can get wifi in your garden office. Although the location in the garden dictates whether this is a ‘line of sight’ option, such as a router, or a hard wired Cat 6 solution.
Apart from the added property financial benefit mentioned above, there are so many others, such as commuting costs, lunchtime meal costs, etc. But, depending on your viewpoint, the quality of life time benefits such as less commuting, improved working environment are probably the most important.
Yes, an OGEL garden room can include a toilet, though care needs to be taken to ensure that this doesn’t infringe on the incidental use principle (if planning permission is not being applied for).
Halifax building society estimate a garden room can add up to 5% to the value of your home. This can be 1.5 times the amount of actual construction costs. Though this figure can vary depending on factors such as location, quality of build and materials used. Please follow this link to our article on this topic.
We understand the concerns that you may have regarding planning permission. Generally, you won’t require planning permission for us to install your bespoke garden office. Some of the main considerations of whether planning permission is needed include the purpose, the height and the design and materials. Talk to one of our team to discuss your garden office room and whether you will require planning permission.
You can keep your garden office warm during the winter by insulating the walls, floor and roof. Our garden offices and other garden rooms are all insulated and can be supplied with heating systems, ensuring you will be warm in the wintertime.
You can protect your garden office in several ways including securing doors and windows with reinforced glass, installing CCTV cameras and security lighting to dissuade possible burglars, placing smoke alarms and fire extinguishers as fire safety precautions as well as making sure your garden office is protected by your home insurance policy. Motion sensors are another great device to use which Ogel can happily install for you.
Yes, a garden office normally needs enough ventilation to ensure airflow, manage moisture and keep the interior comfortable. Condensation, mould growth and stuffiness are all conditions that can be avoided with adequate ventilation. This can be done in several ways, such as opening windows, adding vents or using air conditioners with ventilation capabilities built in. Ogel’s garden offices can all be built with windows and ventilation methods.
There are many ways a garden office can increase the value of your home. With more usable space than is available in the main house, a garden office makes a home more useful, which raises its appeal and consequently, its worth. A garden office’s ability to be customised allows it to adapt to a new owner’s needs and increases its worth to a prospective buyer. When it comes time to sell your home, if your garden office is elegantly built and equipped with electricity and heating, this can greatly add value and attraction to a possible buyer.
You can get electricity to your garden office via several means, such as using your current home’s electrical supply or building a separate power source. You can use your current home’s supply by hiring a licenced electrician to run a power cable from your house to the garden office. You can consider installing a separate power source for your garden office if extending from your home is not practicable or feasible. This would entail hiring an electrician to set up a separate consumer unit, laying a special power wire and making sure electrical laws are followed.
